It seems Vicente del Bosque will have to make do without David Villa when they set out to defend the Euro tittle. Villa is said to have tone his left tibla on a Barcelona assignment in their Club World Cup semifinals against Al Sadd in Japan. It is believed he might be sidelined for six months. Honestly this is a blow to La Furia Roja. King David as Villa is affectionately know is the only player who has a habit of scoring goals frequently in the predominately red Spanish stripe. I am sure Villa would have plenty to show in the event of a miracle recovery at the European soccer extravaganza. Del Bosque is obviously under no illusion of the situation and will definitely look for a replacement in the run up to Kiev 2012 (Kiev is the Capital of Ukraine the hosts of Euro 2012). My fear is that a perfect replacement might be elusive for the Spain coach as there is no player at the moment with a sting as lethal as Kind David's available for Spain . The player that quickly comes to mind is Fernando Torres, but Torres is struggling to command a place in the starting line up for Chelsea, he has become a regular bench warmer. As if that is not enough Torres' goal scoring record in Spanish colors has not been that impressive. He only managed to rack in a paltry 27 goals in 91 appearances compared to King David who has banged a total of 51 goals in only 81 appearances. If he does not strike a rich vein of form in the run up to the competition Torres might even miss out on the Euros. Del Bosque might also take Valencia's Roberto Soldado who has been frequently hitting the back of the net in la Liga but Soldado is yet to score for Spain, however he might have the benefit of the doubt as he has only featured twice for La Furia Roja. The coach might find himself failing to come out of group C where they were pitted against Croatia, Italy and Ireland. Ireland might be pushovers but Croatia and Italy will definitely give them a good run for their money. Apart from that Del Bosque has plenty of options in other departments.and i would prefer that he gives Victor Valdez a nod ahead of Irke Cassillas. To me Valdez has the safest hands in Spain at the moment.
